Founding Partner
HIDRA was founded in 1992 by its founding partners, including José Saldanha Matos, and has since played a strategic role in the development of water supply and drainage infrastructure.
During the 1990s, HIDRA consolidated its position in the market by carrying out studies and projects in the fields of water supply and distribution, drainage, water treatment and wastewater treatment (WTPs and WWTPs). In addition, HIDRA carried out studies on environmental impact, hydrology and water resources planning, often in partnership with ECOS Consultores Técnicos para o Ambiente, Lda.
In the first decade of the 2000s, the company expanded its expertise to include: technical audits; technical, economic and financial feasibility studies; cost-benefit analyses; environmental monitoring; infrastructure operation and maintenance plans.
HIDRA also stands out due to innovation, pioneering in Portugal the promotion of sustainable solutions for low-cost sanitation, non-conventional drainage, and advanced dynamic simulation and management models for urban sanitation systems.
Over the last decade, HIDRA has undertaken a number of international projects funded by multilateral organisations, such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, in countries including Angola, Cabo Verde and Mozambique.
HIDRA has completed more than 250 technical studies and 150 detailed design projects, consolidating the participation in relevant projects for the development and improvement of water supply and sanitation systems in Portugal, Angola, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, among others.
HIDRA continues to act as a leading company in the sector, promoting innovative and sustainable solutions for water management, water resources and the environment, and working collaboratively with suppliers, partners and clients.
